Greeting card ideas
I have received a number of greeting cards in the past few months, and have
frequently found the sentiments to be wrong; e.g., "So sorry to hear you're not
too well", right after I got very good news. This is my attempt at
developing cancer-friendly greeting card sentiments; feel free to contribute by
sending me your own!!

I'm aware that you heard it's
metastasized
And unlike everyone else, you weren't too surprised
But I truly believe
That up science's sleeve
There's more ammo than those folks have realized!

The news seems pretty glum,
It's left me mostly numb.
I can't quite seem to finish this rhyme,
Except to hope you'll have plenty of time
To tease me that it doesn't end properly.

as difficult as it is
in this fast paced life
every brief rest
can be a time of rejuvenation
and a time
to let ourselves be loved
may you take the time to heal,
and may you always know
how very much you are loved.

 | In the quiet moments
when the hurt is hard to bear
May love become your shelter
and may the beauty of precious memories be your comfort.
You are held in gentle thought and prayer.

We sure are worried, have no doubt,
But you'll be alright, knock on wood
A bit of you was taken out
But the rest is still pretty good

 | While waiting for results, the time passes slow,
It's like getting stuck outside in cold wet snow,
So we hope this card will help some of the time go,
and whatever the results, we love you, you know.

Heard you have a long way to go
Hope it helps to know
We're praying that it doesn't grow! |
 | Your recent news wasn't that good
We're praying that things will improve
But, even if they don't,
Our thoughts will remain with you. |
 |
So sorry to hear you're in for the
long haul, but hope it helps to know,
How often you are thought about, more than words can show. |
 | [cover of card] Sorry to hear about your illness
[inside] But, I think you would look cute bald! |
 |
[cover of card] Sorry to hear about
your illness
[inside] Take advantage of it to lose those 20 lbs. |
 | Sorry to hear your bad news
But, remember there's no humidity in heaven |
 |
We know that you want your life
back
Our thoughts are with you during these months |
 | Your treatment isn't near to being finished
Don't let your spirit be diminished
Our thoughts are with you |
 |
We knew that you were special
Even before the rare disease was diagnosed
Please show the doctors wrong
and beat the prognose |
The following are beginnings; let me know if you have any good endings.

 | Time passes very slowly when you're waiting for results |
 | Incurable doesn't really mean incurable It means that you could be first!

 | No one said that a tumor
would attack your sense of humor |
 | Now that all your hair fell
Your head will be cooler in Hell |
